both Christos and Andrew as well as yourself, Clare, have picked up the idea of walking on precarious sands, inter-spaces, two which I might add the Morecombe sands where 21 Chinese workers who had been illegally imported through Liverpool in shipping containers for cockle-picking drowned when cut off by the tides... I wonder whether these spaces are taking on a crucial importance for us as walker-geographers - as spaces of exploitation, as liminal spaces connected to older ideas of pilgrimage, as markers for sea-level change.
