I would disagree.
If you already accept that the distinctions are somewhat blurred -
that curatorial practice can be like artwork and that increasingly
artwork (post-duchamp) can be curatorial - then to make a distinction
in the way you do makes little sense. Surely the only ethical issue
would be that the choices, power relations and thinking be
transparent. The position you take simply reinforces hegemony.
(By analogy, is it like saying that if you edit a book, you should
not include your own writing. )
I think the relations and definitions of the figures 'artist' and
'curator' are far more complex and overlapping (if not somewhat
redundant) - so much so that to have some kind of code of conduct
would simply limit the possibilities.
