*** APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTING ***
Dear colleagues,
We are happy to announce that the
WORKSHOP ON REAL-PARAMETER BLACK-BOX OPTIMIZATION BENCHMARKING (BBOB)
will again take place at the
Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO-2013)
July 6-10, Amsterdam, Netherlands
Organized by ACM SIGEVO
http://www.sigevo.org/gecco-2013
Submit without much effort the benchmarking results of your
favorite (new or not so new) algorithm for black-box continuous
optimization!
Further information can be found at
http://coco.gforge.inria.fr/doku.php?id=bbob-2013
To be kept informed about the workshop, register to the

The 2013 workshop specifically features "expensive optimization"
with a comparatively low number of function evaluations (say
a few 100 or 1000). Submissions to the previous set-up and
general submissions concerning benchmarking remain to be welcome.
Downloads for the workshop will become available very soon,
however, linking an optimizer to the BBOB-framework code and
running test experiments can be done with the current downloads at
http://coco.gforge.inria.fr/doku.php?id=downloads
The upload page for submissions will be at
http://coco.gforge.inria.fr/doku.php?id=bbob-2013-uploads
where you need to login as Username=bbob, Password=upload
Timeline:
. 02/21: code released
. 03/28: submission deadline
. 04/08: acceptance notification
. 04/19: final paper version due
. 07/06 or 07/07: workshop at GECCO
What is new in 2013?
- The testbed remains the same, however the function
instances have changed.
- A setting for "expensive optimization" with a small number
of function evaluations is introduced. The setting features
target values feasible for small runtimes. Previously
generated data sets can be processed in the new setting.
We encourage any submission that is concerned with black-box
optimization benchmarking of continuous optimizers, for example,
benchmarking new or not-so-new algorithms on the BBOB-2013 testbed
or analyzing the impact of parameter changes in an algorithm
using the BBOB-2012 testbed or analyzing data obtained from
previous BBOB workshops or...
