The Institute “López Piñero” for the History of Medicine and Science (IHMC) is a research center of the University of Valencia. The Institute organizes master and doctorate programs in "History of science and scientific communication." It also develops general public activities (exhibitions, cinema, etc.) and research seminars. The center is located in a restored eighteenth-century palace (Palau de Cerveró) in which is the historical library with an extraordinary collection of bibliographical resources, particularly medical books since sixteenth-century. The center also gathers the scientific and medical instruments collection and organizes permanent and temporary exhibitions.

With the participation of different research groups to be integrated tin the new Intitute López Piñero. Coordinator of the organizing committee: Carmel Ferragud (IHMC). The plenary conference will be in charge of Naomi Oreskes, professor of the University of Harvard (USA), and author of the book: “Merchants of Doubt”.

GRANTS LÓPEZ PIÑERO
López Piñero grants for the academic year 2015-2016 have been awarded to two former students of the master on history of science and science communication: Teresa Navarro and Lucia Sapiña. These scholarships support their participation in the meeting of SCHCT de Castelló. The IHMC will offer new grants during the next year to support other activities related to history of science and Technology.
