Well, here's a view of one of the Protus inscriptions at San Canzian d'Isonzo:

And the Protus in the procession of male martyrs in Sant'Apollinare Nuovo comes before Iaquintus and so is rather the P. of the Roman martyrs Protus and Hyacinth (11. Sep.). See:
