What I thought I heard yesterday was that the existing Access Management
Team was being disbanded. In addition there was a suggestion that future
developments in this area would be the responsibility of either the
E-Research Team or the Information Environment Team.
I admit that this split worries me. E-Research and Information Environment
have traditionally done their own things (I don't, for example, remember
any e-research tools that ever used Athens for authentication, or any
information resources that used e-science certificates) and without
someone with overall responsibility for Access Management I expect this
split will get worse again.
I'd agree with Andy that to consider Access Management as 'done' is
premature. What, if anything, can be done about this at this stage,
remains to be seen.
