Call for consultants: East Midlands Oral History Archive (EMOHA) on behalf of Centre for Urban History, University of Leicester
The East Midlands Oral History Archive is a 3 year HLF funded project whose remit is to identify, conserve, and catalogue existing oral interviews in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The EMOHA brief is also to undertake a limited number of new recordings and to produce educational materials based on the archive. EMOHA also offers advice and practical training throughout the East Midlands to promote new oral history interviewing and related activities.
The EMOHA project, based in the Centre for Urban History, University of Leicester, began in 2001 and is scheduled to finish in June 2004. EMOHA was approved by HLF as a 'beacon of best practice' with the express intention that it should establish exemplary standards for archiving, cataloguing, interviewing, and access. Together with robust managerial procedures, it is regarded as an exemplar to oral history projects generally.
It is now essential to re-focus the activities of the EMOHA project in the light of changing funding opportunities. The purpose of this consultancy is to review the current position of EMOHA and develop innovative and forward looking options for the future. We are looking for a consultant who will consider various options and present a clear range of choices and a business plan.
The successful applicant/s will be expected to start work as soon as possible and work to a fee of up to £5,000 to include VAT and expenses.
The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 5th April 2004.
