With apologies for any cross postings.
We're grateful for the responses which have been received so far to
the UK Archival Thesaurus project's evaluation questionnaire
(http://www.ukat.org.uk/news/evaluation_questionnaire.php). The
questionnaire will be available until 13 April. We would strongly
encourage those who haven't done so to respond by then. Your
responses will be used to determine the next phase of work by the
project's software developers, as well as the future direction of
UKAT.
The questionnaire is aimed at both archivists and users of archives.
As well as completing it yourself, we would be grateful if you could
draw it to the attention of colleagues and users who may not be on
this list. We would also welcome feedback by other methods, such
as email ([log in to unmask]).
UKAT has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund to create a
subject thesaurus which will promote greater consistency in subject
indexing in the archive sector. To date, over 10,500 terms have
been submitted to UKAT from individual archives, archive
projects and users of archives. These terms are being edited and
incorporated into a polyhierarchical thesaurus, which already
includes over 6000 terms inherited from the UNESCO Thesaurus.
For further information about the project, see http://www.ukat.org.uk/.
With thanks in advance,
Peter Garrod
