The UK University Guide - A New On-Line University Guide for the 21st
Century
Dr Bernard Kingston has announced today a new venture with publishers
Constable & Robinson to meet the growing national and international need
for quality data on UK Universities.

Bernard Kingston, Partner in Mayfield University Consultants, and
Constable & Robinson Publishers have joined forces to develop an
interactive website aimed at university applicants, their parents and
their advisers. The need for quality qualitative and quantitative data on
UK higher education has never been greater, with more international
students coming here than ever before, and serious competition for these
applicants within the sector. This new venture is based on extensive
research carried out in collaboration with The University of Sheffield.

Dr Kingston is probably best known as the co-author of "The Times Good
University Guide", and Mayfield Consultants as the long-standing and
respected compilers of the University League Tables published in The Times
and Times Higher.

The UK University Guide will be completely independent and impartial so
readers can be assured that the material within its pages is unashamedly
student-centred. Given the recent decision by UCAS that all applications
to UK universities should be made on-line, it clearly makes sense to move
relevant information on-line and away from the rather static print media.
They plan to have the site up and running by mid July to coincide with the
2007 clearing round and well in advance of deadlines for 2008 entry to the
universities.

The website will feature all the usual Mayfield ranking tables and much
more, and will benefit from regular updating of advice and information and
the introduction of dynamic user-generated content.

In summary, this on-line new University Guide anticipates the increased
use of electronic information in schools and colleges and takes advantage
of the opportunities associated with web-based material

Nova Jayne Heath of Constable & Robinson said:
Higher Education in the UK is the envy of the world. This is an
opportunity to serve a global audience with quality statistics and
information to ensure that our universities continue to attract good
applicants from home and overseas.

Bernard Kingston of Mayfield University Consultants said :
I am excited by this new development in partnership with Constable &
Robinson. Choosing which University to attend remains one of the biggest
decisions in an individual’s life and the new site will ensure that this
is a properly informed decision.

Full details of the site will be notified to you next month. Meanwhile,
please contact Nova Jane Heath at Constable & Robinson
([log in to unmask]) or Bernard Kingston at Mayfield
([log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> ) for further
information, comment or enquiries."
