Welcome to ... the Management-Research list

The Management-Research list is the largest Mailbase list in the management field. Established in April 1994, it has over 700 members covering the range of management research - a thoroughly interdisciplinary enterprise. The list is concerned with the discussion of issues related to management research, including its methodology and development, research training, networking and dissemination of research findings. It provides a forum for such issues to enhance the effectiveness of management research in Britain, Europe and internationally.

The list is a useful forum for posting notices of workshops, conferences and other gatherings. It provides a place where we can pool our experiences, our advice and our queries, so that we do not always have to re-invent the wheel from scratch. Some of the best lists in Internet world achieve a high degree of collegiality and mutual support. I hope this list has that sort of spirit and utility.

I hope that people working in the field of management, whatever their disciplinary background and research interests, whether private sector or public sector, will find this a useful forum for ideas and information.

On the rest of this page you will find links for tasks related to the list and to information about management research. Click on the relevant link below. For a number of tasks a special mailto: box with most of the work already done for you will appear when you use a link. This requires a reasonably up-to-date version of a browser such as Netscape or Internet Explorer. (Those which are intended to put text in the body of a message will only work properly with recent versions of Netscape, and not with Internet Explorer, so alternative versions are provided below.)

Please use this email link to let me know of any problems of errors and omissions in the links on these pages, and about additional, new or changed information about management research you think it would be useful to have links to here.

Messages for the list (and joining the list)

Messages for circulation to list members should be emailed to management-research@mailbase.ac.uk
Note that only members can post messages. (This is a mild safeguard against junk mail.)

To join you need to send an email to mailbase@mailbase.ac.uk with the message
subscribe management-research Annie Boddy
with your real name replacing Annie Boddy.

To do this now, click here if you are using Netscape and here if you are using Internet Explorer. With Internet Explorer you will need to add the message text; with recent versions of Netscape it will need to be modified to show your real name and remove the text in < >. You then need to send the message.

When you join the list may I invite you to send a brief message to the group about your own interests. That will help to make clear the breadth of this group's concerns, and help to identify common interests.

How to leave the list

To leave the list send the following email message to mailbase@mailbase.ac.uk

leave management-research
or
unsubscribe management-research

To do this now, click here if you are using Netscape and here if you are using Internet Explorer. With Internet Explorer you will need to add the message text; with recent versions of Netscape it will be shown already. You then need to send the message.

If this does not work a common reason is that your email address has changed, perhaps only slightly, since you first joined. In that case you will need to ask the list owner for help.

If you do get into a situation where you want the list owner's help, send a message to management-research-request@mailbase.ac.uk.  Include a brief explanation of the problem. This will wing its electronic way to me, as the relevant list owner / manager.

How to suspend mail from mailbase lists

If you are going away temporarily, and do not want mail to be sent from mailbase lists while you are away, send an email to mailbase@mailbase.ac.uk, saying

suspend mail all

To do this now, click here if you are using Netscape and here if you are using Internet Explorer. With Internet Explorer you will need to add the message text; with recent versions of Netscape it will be shown already. You then need to send the message.

and when you return, send the message (also to mailbase@mailbase.ac.uk)

resume mail all

To do this now, click here if you are using Netscape and here if you are using Internet Explorer. With Internet Explorer you will need to add the message text; with recent versions of Netscape it will be shown already. You then need to send the message.

Acknowledgements

Although the original version of this set of links was just built up over time by me while I was looking round the net, now the page is here, I plan to acknowledge those who help us all out by suggesting good resources for inclusion in this list. Thanks are initially due to the following: Rod Davies, Mark Dunn, Kim Parker, Laura F Spira, Peter Taylor-Gooby.

And finally ...

Please use this email link to let me know of any problems of errors and omissions in the links on these pages, and about additional, new or changed information about management research you think it would be useful to have links to here. I would particularly welcome suggestions for further European and international resources which you value.
