JISC infoNet’s primary resources are the online infoKits, which promote the effective strategic planning and management of information and learning technology within institutions. These include methodologies and good practice in areas such as:

  • Portfolio, Programme and Project Management (p3m)
  • Change Management
  • Risk Management
  • Process Review
  • Information Management
  • Other infoKits give a current picture of the innovation landscape in areas such as:
  • Planning and Designing Technology-Rich Learning Spaces
  • Social Software
  • e-Portfolios
  • Scenario Planning
The Tools and Techniques that underpin these resources are also available to browse as a resource in their own right.

What about the future?

JISC infoNet is currently involved in work around JISC’s strategic theme on Business and Community Engagement and (as of May 2009) is engaged in two projects:

  • Trialling of Collaborative Tools
  • Embedding BCE in Business Processes

JISC infoNet has also produced material around the Bologna Process (January 2009) and the strategic challenges facing institutions of internationalisation and lifelong learning, as a prelude to a Strategy infoKit (due November 2009).

Other current work includes investigating benefits associated with records management, the IT requirements of the new Research Excellence Framework (REF), and supporting the projects involved in JISC’s programmes around Curriculum Design and Delivery as well as other upcoming JISC innovation initiatives.

How can we help you and your institutions?

Promoting good practice and inspiring innovation

The infoKits contain a wealth of ‘self-help’ material, such as simple methodologies to manage projects, risk and change, as well as ‘landscape views’ of the sector to encourage creativity, from image galleries of inspiring buildings to soundbites from learners engaged with e-portfolios.

Case studies

The infoKits also include a range of case studies that highlight how practice has been applied in the further and higher education sectors. Examples include:

  • Learning spaces – the stories and experiences behind new-build and refurbishment projects, with specific reference to the technological impact
  • Tangible Benefits of e-Learning – looking at the e-learning approaches and benefits
  • e-Portfolios - different perspectives, purposes and the technology used

Events and workshops

JISC infoNet also run a number of events and workshops to support the materials mentioned above. Details of forthcoming workshops and how to book are available from our website and our Google Calendar at http://www.jiscinfonet.ac.uk/events/calendar.

Members of the infoNet team also attend and speak at many conferences related to ICT and education.
