WHAT IS JISCMAIL?
 
Mission:
To facilitate knowledge sharing within the UK centered academic community, using email and the web, through the provision, support and development of specialist mailing list based services, enabling the delivery of high quality and relevant content.

JISCMail, AKA The National Academic Mailing List Service, is one of a number of services provided by JISC Advance and funded by the JISC (www.jisc.ac.uk) to benefit learning, teaching and research communities.

JISCMail is based on a LISTSERV® system which is hosted and run by a dedicated team at the Science and Technology Facilities Council's Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.

Our aims are to support topical Discussion, wide Collaboration and rapid Communications, providing a means to:

WHO USES JISCMAIL
 
The main users are from Higher and Further Education and also Research communities both in the UK and worldwide. See the global distribution via our User Map.
 
WHY USE JISCMAIL?
 
Image: bullet Our lists are free to the academic community and easy to set up via a vetted application process controlled by JISC criteria. Of course if you don't meet the JISC criteria we offer a competitively priced fee paying service, called Mailtalk, which has all the benefits of JISCMail.
Image: bullet JISCMail can be used either via email or web browser.
Image: bullet LISTSERV is highly configurable, providing a list owner with the means to control every aspect of the list.
Image: bullet There is no need to be an IT guru as our friendly and helpful support staff are only an email or phone call away from providing assistance.
Image: bullet For out of hours help there is a variety of documentation on our website, including up to date service news.
Image: bullet JISCMail also provides detailed training and workshops at a variety of venues including bespoke sessions at your location.
